Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standard aptitude test designed and developed by Educational Testing Service (ETS) for evaluating candidates for various graduate and business programs in educational institutions. Graduate Record Examination GRE® revised General Test is widely accepted in all parts of the world. The GRE revised General Test replaced the GRE® General Test. Candidates who take GRE test are measured on the basis of verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing skills.

GRE also has subject specific tests, which only concentrates on a single subject. These GRE subject tests are offered in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Literature, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology.

Purpose of Examination
GRE General Test helps in providing the graduate schools with students who are measured on a common system but are from variety of educational backgrounds.

New Test Features
The GRE revised General Test design features advanced technology that allows a student to freely move forward and backward within a section. Specific features include:
• Preview and review capabilities within a section
• A “mark and review” feature to tag questions, so a student can skip these and return to them later
• The ability to change/edit answers within a section
• An on-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning section
• New answer formats, including tasks such as numeric entry and highlighting a sentence in a passage to answer a question

Validity of GRE Exam
